SkyCenter One hosts first HCAA Board Meeting

After more than 50 years of HCAA Board Meetings happening in the Main Terminal, the Authority’s monthly board meetings have finally moved into their brand-new home at SkyCenter One.

On Thursday morning at 9:01, Board Chair Gary Harrod called the very first board meeting in the new office building to order, as members of the public and Authority staff filled the room.

“There have been a lot of people in the room to help make this happen, said Tampa International Airport CEO, Joe Lopano. “It sure is a grand room and you look out the window and we all know why we came to Florida.”

The new Boardroom is nearly 50 percent larger compared to the previous one in the Main Terminal and is equipped with 99 seats for the general audience with room for up to 110 if extra seats are needed.

The previous boardroom had a normal capacity of around 80 general audience seats which included members of the media. At SkyCenter One, 3 additional seats are set aside for journalists covering the public meeting.

Besides the larger size, the new Boardroom is equipped with the latest technology including state of the art audio/visual equipment, larger monitors, robotic cameras and enhanced acoustics.
